We move to a new home

So what is it like moving to a new home? Nervous excitement, last minute preparations, disappearing workers and finally everything fall into place. That is exactly how we felt about the move to our new office at Leela Infopark.

We had the official inauguration ceremony on March 12th. The office was decorated beautifully by our busy bees who worked into the wee hours of the morning. Sirish cut the symbolic red ribbon and the lamp was lighted by lucky rapidites picked in a draw. We celebrated the day with tons of sweets and snacks.

It is a great feeling to have all the rapidites under the same roof. The energy it exudes is truly inspirational and we are very confident that this milestone in the history of RapidValue will help us to scale greater heights.

Yes, we are home…well, at least for now! :)

We are 3!!!

RapidValue turned 3 years old in November. How time flies! We celebrated our birthday with a tasty Black Forest cake. Old timers KK, Timmi, Anandlal and JK did the honors of cutting the cake and officially marking the 3 year mile stone.

Looking back, it sure has been an amazing journey… from that first 750 sq ft office to the 7500 sq ft space…from the first employee to a team size inching on to a formidable 100…from those one-man projects to assignments proving our amazing talent and team work…we enjoyed every bit of it. Now the future is beckoning us with more challenges, tons of learning, loads of fun and beautiful moments. We cannot wait to seize it!

Onam 2011

What happened when AARCHA AND CHEKAVAR along with AANAKKALLAN went to meet MAVELI at MULLAPPANTHAL? If anything it would be pretty interesting, right? That is the kind of Onam we had this year. Interesting, amusing, memorable and full of fun!

The first order of business was making the pookkalam. Like last year we had a great design that was executed brilliantly by our group of enthusiastic rapidites. We received appreciation from other offices for it. After the obligatory photo sessions around the pookkalam it was time to rock the building! We had our own Maveli Thampuran (Ramesh) and a set of pulis (Vishnu P and Martin). Under the leadership of Harish, rapidites wielded drums and cymbals and made the rounds of every floor of the building bringing everyone the holiday cheer. It was a pleasant surprise to everyone to see Maveli visiting them with much fanfare. Soon it was time for lunch. We were privileged to have Maveli join us during the sadya. Read more

Christmas 2010

At RapidValue we will never let you forget your birthday, even if you want to! Rapidites’ birthdays are tracked and reminded with ‘project management’ precision and we will never stop until we get a treat from you. So when it was time to celebrate the KING’s birthday, no wonder we went all the way to make it a grand affair. The whole office was transformed in to one big party hall overnight, thanks to our enthusiastic, energetic rapidites. Streamers, stars and balloons were hung from every part of the ceiling. The Christmas tree was put up, complete with decorations and wrapped gifts. Christmas friends were chosen and many could be seen scratching their heads wondering what to gift their ‘Christmas child.’ Meanwhile Sagar and Shwetha were busy organizing the Christmas party.

On the day of the party gifts were exchanged. There were some hilarious moments..like, when Vikas thought his gift was a bottle of champagne, when actually it was just black coffee in a champagne bottle! By evening the office was closed at 5:30 (gasp!) and all of us headed to Park Residency. The chief guest for the day was none other than Christmas Papa who was brought in, in style by a group singing carols. (Thanks Bittu for playing along). Prajeesh volunteered to sing an old Hindi melody and Sreeni’s ‘silsila’ song had us in splits. Rajesh, Sagar, Jayahari, Vikas and Sudeep team impressed us with their cool dance moves and at the end of it almost everyone was on the floor dancing along. In between, Shwetha and Sagar kept the audience entertained with many games like breaking the balloons and Chinese whisper. Several ‘awards’ were also distributed. Then came the topping on the cake: a skit written, directed and enacted by rapidites. Each dialogue was welcomed with thunderous applause and roaring laughter. JK,Arun, KK, Jayahari, Prasad, Rajeev, and Lijo team gave us some memorable dialogues and scenes. The night ended with a sumptuous dinner.

One Day Trip – Ramada, Kochi

Long nights, weekends and endless coding… It was time to wind down and so we headed to Ramada resort. The fun started right inside the bus! Let me tell you one thing-we, rapidites, can dance! Ramada welcomed us with their beautiful cottages, well-maintained lawns and their huge swimming pool, which is the biggest in India. The rest of the day was spent inside the pool and it took great force and the promise of a lunch buffet to get everyone out. We had worked out a good appetite by then and shamelessly attacked the buffet table. After lunch many of us seemed to be in a coma induced by over-eating. Many retired to the room reserved for us and had a long nap.

The rest just chilled near the water or played snooker. Coffee, tea and snacks were served in the room. Soon we dragged our tired, but happy, bodies back to the bus and said good-bye to Ramada. Read more

Onam 2010 at RapidValue Infopark

Onam befitting a king- that is how we rapidites celebrated Onam! The highlight of the day was the grand ‘pookkalam’(flower carpet), designed by Jayahari and brought to life by Surya, Sudeep and team. We can proudly say that it was one of the best pookkalams in Infopark. After the obligatory photo sessions it was time for the Onam ‘sadya’ (feast). After lunch came the fun! One by one, rapidites started to show their true colours! KK1 was the winner of the game ‘sundarikkoru pottu kuthal’, made easy by the fact that he drew the ‘sundari’ (the beauty)! Then, there was the contest where one had to speak in pure Malayalam.

Many Malayalam words were rediscovered in the process and Rajesh P was named the winner. Who knew he could speak Malayalam, yet alone ‘suddha’ Malayalam! Rinish led us in the Malayalam folk song round. Lijo surprised us with his cool dance moves, Sudheesh sang beautifully about his lost love. Any rapidites’ get-together is not complete without KK1 imitating us. It was hilarious to watch him copy our mannerisms. Every good thing should come to an end and so finally it was time for us to head home. Read more

One Day Trip – Cherai Beach, Kochi

The restlessness was palpable-we HAD to get out of our air conditioned offices and be in the open. Plans were made, arrangements were done and we braved the summer heat to hit Cherai beach. After gulping down the welcome-drinks served at the beautiful beach-front resort, it was time to jump in the water. Teams were picked; everyone put on their game faces and then began a very serious but fun game of ‘water volleyball’. A great day is not complete without great food and we were not disappointed with the buffet spread arranged by the resort. We then rested for a while. Syam, who couldn’t resist seeing a microphone sitting idle, started singing and soon others joined.

Thankfully we were distracted by tea and snacks! After some photo sessions we headed back watching the sun slowly set. This trip was a much needed relief from the world of monitors and project deadlines. Read more
